Is it possible for Texas Tech and Texas to play in BCS bowl if Alabama/Penn State loses a game?
Scenario: Texas Tech and Texas win out their regular season games; Alabama and Penn State loses a game prior to bowl season and drops out from top rankings allowing Texas Tech take #1, Texas moving up to #2 in BCS ranking. Is it possible for those two Texas team to play for the BCS Championship bowl?
I suppose it is theoretically possible but frankly there would be a public outrage if it happened.. Remember a few years Nebraska was invited to the BCS championship game even though it couldn't win its own division.
Both schools may get the BCS and one to the championship game but almost certainly not both. If these schools played in different conferences the chances would be greater.
As for Penn State and Alabama losing? Who is left on Alabama's schedule. Auburn? They're not any good this year but that is a rivalry game and sometimes strange things happen in those games. Remember a few years Oklahoma was mowing everyone down on its way to what they thought was an inevitable BCS championship game appearance until they lost to 3-8 Oklahoma State
Penn State has Indiana (at home) close to an automatic victory sandwiched in between Iowa (there) and Michigan State (at home). Iowa is a very underrated team and an upset is quite possible as is the game with Michigan State who may themselves be playing for a BCS berth although not in the championship game
