Dallas Cowboys

How come the Dallas Cowboys have not won a Playoff game since 1996? what happend to them?
why have the Dallas Cowboys been a dissapointment in recent years? what happend to the so-called "America's Team"? Seriously, not having won a playoff game since 1996 is pretty embarassing. Is the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones becoming like Al Davis from the Raiders?
How come the Dallas Cowboys have not been able to draft very good players to replace Aikman, Smith, and Irvin?
Part of the failure can be attributed to Jerry Jones. He's not the worst owner but he's not exactly the best. His problem is, he has never allowed his coach to do his job at the full capacity. During the years that they won the super bowl, I think Jones was more patient. However, since then he has become impatient and he has hired head coaches who were inept at coaching in Dallas. Over time, Jones has allowed his thirst for success to be his downfall. He wants to get back to the super bowl just like any other owner does, but at a price. His coaches since the super bowl have not given enough time to prove themselves. I guarantee that if Wade Phillips misses the playoffs or doesn't win a playoff game he will be fired.
The other reason is because of the players that Cowboys had. During those years in the super bowl the Cowboys had hall of fame players. A big part of the success was Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and Emmit Smith. The point is, when you lose players who had so much talent then you can't expect to win games. The players in Dallas now have talent, but the problem is there are no stand out players like there were in the 90's. Also notice how after Troy Aikman the QB position became slightly mediocre. Tony Romo has talent, but he is no Troy Aikman. They don't have much of a running game as they did in the 90's, and their receivers have been disappointing over time. Overall I think it is the fault of Jones, and the lack of hall of fame talent along with solid coaching.
You know the fans I am talking about. You can spot them a mile away; they have an overly excited outlook on the football season right now, and probably the biggest tell tale sign is this statement. " I don't care about baseball it is football season". Yeah right
Football, as great a sport as it is, can never truly take a hold until the World Series has been won. Yes it is a great opportunity for those unfortunate fans whose team doesn't make the playoffs to look forward to watching something other then bad reality TV, or worse having to watch the team that has eliminated your team from contention continue on it's quest for a championship.
For every sports fan October is like a double-edged sword. On one hand you are looking forward to not only the NFL season, but also college football, hockey and basketball. Well for those of us who have DIRECTV the so-called leader in sports we can forget about the hockey games on the Versus channel because they don't offer it anymore.
Sorry I had to get that out, it aggravates me that I pay so much money a month and I now I cannot watch the Boston Bruins games, oh and I can't cancel my service or I have to pay a cancellation fee so I am stuck, for now. How about this DIRECTV, give me the channels we signed up for, or let me out of the contract. Oh wait; we are, in the form of a lawsuit filed last month, but I digress.
Okay focus. This year, as many years before I have the luxury and the curse of having my baseball season extended. It is a great feeling, but I can't focus completely on football until the Yankees win the World Series. Yes I am a Yankees fan. Last year was a painful season that is as rare as a snowball in Texas, but every once in a while it happens. So I was able to use the same excuse all fans use I don't care it's football season. Saying it convincingly, like I was truly excited about watching the Cowboys play. Yes I am a Dallas Cowboys fan. Inside though I felt like someone came to my house kicked my dog and ran away with my bike. To have Tony Romo build up my hopes of possibly extending the football season and then crushing me with yet another Romo screw up. It was a long winter to say the least, scouring the YES Network for classic Yankee games.
This Year, The Yankees are back where they should be, seeking championship number 27. The best thing about this year is, I don't have to focus only on football. Dallas is off and running nowhere, and thanks Romo for blowing it in beginning of the season so I don't feel the need to watch the games. I am anticipating being in trouble after the World Series.

Super Bowl XXVIII - Dallas Cowboys Championship Video [VHS] $18.88 "How 'bout them Cowboys!" is the exhilarating victory cry roared by hair-sprayed coach Jimmy Johnson after back-to-back Super Bowl championships for his Dallas Cowboys in 1993 and 1994. This overused cheer became almost as obnoxious as Dallas' claim as "America's Team." Fortunately NFL Films' Cowboys: Super Bowl XXVIII Champions doesn't use the refrain until almost the 40-minute mark of this 45-mi... |
