How long will a 40 pound bag of dog food last a adult shepherd?
im gonna get a shepherd puppy in a few months and i just wanna get food prices so i wanna see how long the 40 pound bag of dog food would last

That completely depends on the food. Generally, the cheaper the food, the more food the dog will eat, meaning that the cheap stuff and the good stuff come out to be about the same price in the end when you do a cost-per-day feeding analysis. Don't even bother with the stuff sold at your grocery store or at Wal-Mart. Some good foods: Innova, Healthwise, California Natural, Prairie, Earthborn, Wellness Super5mix, Merrick, Castor & Pollux Ultramix, Castor & Pollux Organix, Halo, Canidae, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Haven, Natural Balance, Pinnacle, Evanger's, Solid Gold, Flint River Ranch, Blue Buffalo, and Taste of the Wild.
30 pounds of California Natural would last just over 2 weeks at my house when I was feeding 3 large dogs and a toy. Based on this, 30 pounds of Cal. Nat. would last one of my big dogs about 6 weeks. 30 pounds of Purina Dog Chow or Pedigree would last half that long.
